Bushwick Affordable Housing

Ridgewood Bushwick Senior Citizen’s Council acquired five buildings from HUD after their previous owners defaulted on their 203k loans. Both buildings required a gut renovation. The layouts of the buildings were completely reconceived to provide accessibility to the ground floor and larger dwelling units throughout. Whereas the existing units were shotgun style, with interior bedrooms without light or air, our design provides high quality 1 to 4 bedroom units.  One of buildings had a histoic facade that was restored.  The others were wood clad buildings that required new facades.  These facades were designed to be modern, but harmonious with the neighborhood. The ground floor is dark red brick and the upper floors are large-format cement board panels.  The projects resulted in twenty beautiful apartments for the community.
